Frank Castle, the one-man army known as the Punisher, is forever redefined in the latest volume of our series of graphic novels handpicked by Marvel Editorial to showcase pivotal storylines written and drawn by some of Marvel's most acclaimed creators! Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon have made the Punisher a force to be reckoned with once again, delivering a wild ride of innovative chaos! But not everyone is happy about Frank's return。 Two unlucky cops have drawn the unenviable task of capturing him, while the ruthless mobster Ma Gnucci and her gang will stop at nothing to see him dead! The Punisher must also contend with a colorful crew of nosy neighbors, and the arrival of three copycats - the Holy, Elite and Mr。 Payback - who want him to join their crime-cleansing force。 Welcome back, Frank!

Welcome Back Frank, Part I is a rollercoaster ride of pure fun from start to finish! I am a huge fan of the character Frank Castle (The Punisher) because he isn’t completely definable as hero or villain。 An anti-hero。 He has no qualms about killing anybody who has partaken in wrongdoings。 Despite this, he always makes sure he protects the innocent。 As I am a fan of Alan Moore’s work, this type of hero appeals to me and The Punisher is one of Marvel’s greatest examples of that。 Garth Ennis & Stev Welcome Back Frank, Part I is a rollercoaster ride of pure fun from start to finish!

The birth of the version of Punisher that most folks are aware of today。 This graphic novel pulls no punches with the violence or dark humor。 The Punisher (and Garth Ennis) at his absolute best。 A must read for any Punisher fan or fans of vigilante movies like Death Wish。

I very much liked the previous volume of this series, due to its peek into the Punisher's psyche and the ambiguous -- i。e。, possibly -- metaphysical aspect to his survival。 It felt almost epic in scope, due to these elements。However, I didn't much care for the story, nor the art, of this latter volume。 It probably isn't bad, as far as these comics go; but it wasn't to my taste。 I think I had expected more -- continued -- depth to the character。 Instead, it was only action, with no psychological I very much liked the previous volume of this series, due to its peek into the Punisher's psyche and the ambiguous -- i。e。, possibly -- metaphysical aspect to his survival。 It felt almost epic in scope, due to these elements。However, I didn't much care for the story, nor the art, of this latter volume。 It probably isn't bad, as far as these comics go; but it wasn't to my taste。 I think I had expected more -- continued -- depth to the character。 Instead, it was only action, with no psychological backgrounds。 Arguably, that's how the character should be portrayed; but given the other incarnations -- some of the films and the series -- there is a much more interesting way of looking at Castle and his exploits (and reasons), and I much prefer him that way。 。。。more

Still picking up almost anything I can find by Garth Ennis (apart from his war stories) and particularly trying to piece together every thing he did on The Punisher。 This is the first maxi series before the two ongoing series he worked on。 Some familiar images from his Preacher run, but it's still good stuff。 Frank gets shot a bunch of times and loses more blood than seems feasible, but the ultraviolence and hyperbolic gunfights make this a blast even if it's a mostly forgettable one。 Still picking up almost anything I can find by Garth Ennis (apart from his war stories) and particularly trying to piece together every thing he did on The Punisher。 This is the first maxi series before the two ongoing series he worked on。 Some familiar images from his Preacher run, but it's still good stuff。 Frank gets shot a bunch of times and loses more blood than seems feasible, but the ultraviolence and hyperbolic gunfights make this a blast even if it's a mostly forgettable one。 。。。more

Without a doubt, this is one of the best interpretations of The Punisher ever written。 Not shying away from the dark humor that would come with a gun-toting vigilante with a giant skull on his shirt, this version of Frank Castle feels the most human and well rounded as opposed to the psychotic, emotionless killing machine he later becomes in the various Max series。 Check it out。

Great story。 While reading this I discovered that this is the book they used for the 2004 Punisher movie。 Plus there was a panel that was used in the Netflix Daredevil series。 But aside from all that, this was a fun ride。 Frank slowly worked his way thru the Gnucci crime family who in desperation called in the Russian。 What a fight that was。 Anyway, I have the next wave of Ennis Punisher trades vol 1-10 and Born coming in the mail。 Can’t wait!

Devero
